Training women for tomorrow’s construction sector
An 18-month Erasmus+ journey empowering women in construction through digital tools and hands-on learning
he WICEPS project came to a powerful close with a vibrant final event held at The Glass House in Sligo on June 26th. From the start, the energy in the room was electric — thanks to open conversations, meaningful networking, and hands-on activities drawn from the project’s free MOOC. Highlights included real-world roleplay, a panel of inspiring women in construction, and roundtable reflections on what comes next. With both in-person and online voices participating, the event was a reminder of how shared stories can fuel real change.
WICEPS – Women in Construction: Empowering Skills and Presence in the 3D Construction – is an Erasmus+ project co-developed over 18 months by partners in Ireland and Spain. Together, Future Cast and @BuildingBridges.es created an accessible learning programme designed to increase women’s participation in 3D construction by building confidence, digital competence, and sector-specific knowledge. From interviews to co-creation, every output was grounded in lived experience.
The project delivered a free, multi-module MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), practical workshops in both countries, and a portable Skills Lab toolkit that can be used by trainers across Europe. The resources are now freely available, and partners will continue to share them through social media, networks, and local education campaigns. We’re delighted with the strong collaboration across borders and proud of the tools now ready to support women in technical roles.
👉 Whether you’re an educator, a woman entering construction, or an employer seeking to diversify your team, the WICEPS MOOC is a flexible, practical, and ready-to-use resource. It includes video guides, templates, quizzes, and real-life case studies — all free to access and available in English and Spanish.
