Building a Community for Ethical and Equitable AI in Language Teaching
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming education, and English language teachers are increasingly exploring how these tools can support teaching and learning. Through Ersmus+ BRIDGE-ELT project (Beyond the Divide: Effective Use of Artificial Intelligence for Equitable English Language Teaching), partners across Europe are working to understand how AI is currently used in English language classrooms and what teachers need in order to integrate these technologies responsibly.
Recent research shows that many educators are curious about AI and already experimenting with tools such as ChatGPT, at the same time, teachers report that they often lack clear guidance, training opportunities, and spaces to discuss ethical and equitable AI use with peers.
Introducing the BRIDGE-ELT Professional Learning Community (PLC)
To support teachers in navigating this evolving landscape, the project is establishing the BRIDGE-ELT Professional Learning Community (PLC) – an international networking platform designed for:
- English language teachers (both in-service and pre-service)
- Teacher educators
- Educational researchers and practitioners interested in AI and language education
The PLC will provide a collaborative space where educators from different countries and teaching contexts can connect, exchange ideas, and learn from each other’s experiences.
Why Join the BRIDGE-ELT PLC?
By joining the community, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Share experiences and challenges related to AI use in language teaching
- Explore practical teaching strategies for integrating AI tools into lessons
- Discuss ethical and equitable AI practices in diverse classroom contexts
- Learn from international colleagues and build professional connections
- Access insights and resources developed through the BRIDGE-ELT project
Help Us Build the Community
Future Cast warmly invites English language teachers, teacher educators, and education professionals to become part of the BRIDGE-ELT Professional Learning Community. We also encourage colleagues and partners to share this invitation within their professional networks, institutions, and communities.
Together, we can build an international learning network that supports educators in using AI in ways that enhance teaching, promote equity, and strengthen the future of English language education.
