Course Overview

This Course is compulsory if you want to become a holder of an Operational Authorisation. You will have to submit an Operations Manual, with either a PDRA or a SORA, in order to operate under one of the Standard Scenarios. Specific Drone Operations are considered to be High Risk, whereas the Open Category Operations are deemed as Low Risk operations. This is a 12-hour course. This course covers all subjects that are necessary for Drone Operations on Fixed-Wing. Multi-Rotor UAVs and Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL). There is a Theoretical Proctored Exam at the end of the Course.

Course is suitable for

This course is designed for professional drone pilots who need to conduct flying operations in the EU Specific Category with respect to Standard Scenario (STS) S01/S02 & Pre-Defined Risk Assessment (PDRA) S01/S02. It is also designed in such a manner that Hobbyists can become a professional commercial drone pilot. Sectors: Construction, Manufacturing, Quantity Surveyors, Managers.

Prerequisite:

All Students must be set up on the MYSRS Portal and have completed A1/A3 Proof of online training course. Bring your own Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone (to log in the MYSRS Portal and to take the exam).

  • Technical and operational mitigation for Air Risk
  • Human Factors
  • Data Protection (Introduction)
  • U.F 101 Application form
  •  MySRS Portal, Proctor Exam Explanation & Demonstration

Learning Outcomes:

This course covers all subjects that the IAA have deemed necessary for Drone Operations on Fixed-Wing. Multi-Rotor UAVs and Vertical Take-off And Landing (VTOL). By the end of the course the student will receive the required theoretical knowledge in order to conduct Drone operations with an Operational Authorisation. They will cover all the subject matter to receive a clear understanding of the rules and regulations for operating a UAS within Europe.

Certification:

Remote Pilot certificate of Theorical Knowledge awarded by the Irish Aviation Authority.

Exam: There is a Theoretical Proctored Exam at the end of the Course. This Theoretical Proctored Exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions. You must receive 75% of the overall marks to successfully pass the course. Outside of this course the student must complete a Continuous Assessment course prior to taking their Practical Flight Exam. Practical Skills Exam is normally held once the student has completed the Continuous Flight Assessment and they are ready to sit the Practical Exam. This can happen within two weeks of sitting the Course. The Practical Skills Exam timeframe is normally driven by the student. when they feel they are happy to take the Exam after they have completed the Continuous Flight Assessment.
