From Waste to Worth: Advancing Sustainable Composites via Natural Fiber Screening

W2W_composite Image

W2W-Composites (From Waste to Worth) is an Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme (NPA) project bringing together partners from Sweden, Finland, and Ireland. The project supports the transition to a circular economy by helping public authorities, SMEs, and stakeholders adopt bio-based and recyclable composite materials.

By combining the results of earlier projects (Bio2Print and SUSBICO), W2W-Composites focuses on using underutilised biomass, such as agricultural and forestry residues, to create sustainable, low-carbon material solutions.

With a total budget of €199,991.99 (€129,994.79 NPA co-financing), the project strengthens regional capacity, promotes cross-border collaboration, and supports the uptake of circular composite solutions across the NPA regions.

Expected Outcomes

– Circular composite guidelines and a Joint Bio-Composite Action Plan for regional adoption.
– Open-access tools and knowledge platform supporting stakeholders across NPA regions.
– Two pilot demonstrators showcasing bio-based composite applications.
– Increased capacity of public authorities and SMEs to implement circular material solutions.
